Belpre, Ohio- Belpre City Schools is asking for parents opinions on whether their golden eagles should be learning in person or virtually 3rd and 4th quarters of the school year.
WMOA news spoke with Superintendent Jeff Greenly Today.
" We know that there a large number of of families we serve with diverse opinions on how to proceed in these times,"Greenly explained."In August we gave families the opportunity to chose if they wanted to bring their families back in person or go virtual. Orginally we had about 30 percent of our school district elect to go virtual and we told families lets try it out, go the first two quarters, and then we will give you the opportunity in December to elect if you want to continue doing what you've done or change and go the other direction."
A form was sent out to parents back on November 30th. Families have until December 8th to fill out the form and if it is not filled out the school system will assume the family would like to continue the placement the child is currently enrolled in.
Around 30-50 responses have come back in since the letter was sent to parents.
"Families that feel like this is something they can take on are empowered to do so, and I think virtual learning is going to require a little bit more support by a care giver or parent," Greenly contined. "So, I am very pleased in terms of what I have seen in terms of learning and growth in our K-6th classrooms this year. On the high school side our configuration is a little bit different. On that side of the house we have seen a little bit more struggle from some of the families. In many ways that could be just be the nature of the content."
December 8th is the deadline for parents to submit forms.
