MARIETTA, Ohio- A high wind watch is in effect from late tonight through Friday afternoon for portions of Southeast Ohio and Central West Virginia. The National Weather Service reports that southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected with wind gusts of 45 to 60 mph possible.
Even at those speeds, luckily, we aren't reaching Category 1 hurricane winds, that starts at about 75 miles per hour. With 60mph winds, structural damage is certainly possible.  Damage to trees is possible too and smaller dogs can move around a bit under the power of mother nature.

Back in February of 2019, the Cleveland area featured a small dog warning when wind speeds were expected at 50 miles per hour.   Leashed up Pomeranians, Bichon Frises (BEE-SHAWN – FREE-ZAY) and Scottish terriers are a few examples of smaller breeds that can become kite like in winds that fast.

There was not, however; a cat warning, chances of them actually being awake and outside were apparently low.
