MARIETTA, OHIO- Today is Marietta Police Chief Rodney Hupp's final day. Chief Hupp has been with the department for 27 years. The Marietta Civil Service Commission will be working to find a new chief and according to Mayor Josh Schlicher, there will be changes to that process.

"As I continue to try and make improvements to Marietta, we are looking for a different process and probably a different command staff structure for Marietta Police Department."

Mayor Josh Schlicher declined any comments in regards to recent allegations involving Chief Hupp creating a hostile work environment and/or bully and harassment at the department.

Mayor Schlicher did however express his gratitude for Chief Hupp's Service for many years in Marietta.  The Mayor added this moving forward.

"There will be some personnel changes obviously with the new chief, that brings individuals up from different ranks so they'll leave openings in those sergeant and captain positions. We are excited to take the Marietta Police Department in a different direction, but I want to wish chief Hupp the best in his retirement. After 27 years in the department and six as chief. He did a lot of improvements to the departments. He came in after the police department was under command of a chief for 20 years, so when you change direction and change leadership positions it creates the opportunity for change so that's what we are seeing here."

Chief Hupp had been on leave prior to the announcement of his retirement from the Marietta Police Department.
