Child Passenger Safety Week

September 19-25 is Child Passenger Safety Week. The Washington County Sheriff's Office announced that is working alongside the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the safety week. The week is dedicated to education parents and caregivers about the importance of correctly choosing, installing and using car seats, boosters and seat belts.
 
 
Motor vehicle crashes are a leading killer of children and the latest research from NHTSA show that 46% of car seats are misused. From 2015 to 2019, there were over 1700 8-14 yar old kids killed in passenger vehicles.
